Well this weekend was pretty fun. at 5:00am I woke up and grabbed my gear and loaded up my boat. We launched duck pond and headed straight rum point channel, with in 10 mines we were out and I slacked out  3 rods and headed out dead north.

About 10 miles off shore we turnaround and headed to east end. within 10 mins my rod got hit and a lousy bara was on the line, I pulled him in and I put it right in the fish bag. still heading to east end we got into about 600 ft of water and started deep dropping for grouped and something with a lot of teeth cut my rig in half.

Just right after making a new grouper rig my dad spotted birds and with no hesitations full throttle we were running to the birds and watching the dolphins jumping out the water. By time we made it there the fish were still on the surface and Kyle casted a whole squid anh hooked up on a horse eye jack. After getting the jack in the boat I slacked out 3 more lines. BAM!! The rod pop out the outrigger, I grabbed the rod and set the hook. In my head I was talking to myself say give the rod to Kyle because in experience I've seen kyle miss the gaff shot. So I passed on the rid and made him fight him, right at the back of the boat I grabbed the line and gaffed him but he tried to run and the line was cutting my hand but I never gave up. with all of my might I flung him in the boat and we headed home.

Florida Sportman

I like how this blog can in spire you to go out and try and catch a world record. some times when i go out i try the same Technics but i don't always seceded. But the only thing i honestly don't like about this blog is that they stretched to truth in most of the information if the fish

171 lb. Wahoo in the Bahamas | World record fish

Ok, where are the pictures?!!?So far I've only heard the rumor and I'm hoping that someone can produce some pics to lay this to rest. Submit your own fishing photos at Salt Life.
From what I can gather, there was a huge Wahoo caught this past week in an area of the Bahamas that is known for big ones. Hopefully someone will come up with some pictures of it soon so we can all drool over it and it doesn't end up like some of the great huge fish Hoax of the past.

The 100lb Mahi Mahi...(Dolphin) click for Spearblog article and other "100lb Mahi pics"

100-lb. Mahi Mahi Dolphin Dorado...

The 2000lb Marlin..... click for story

2000 pound marlin? Doubt it.

And then we come to the monster Wahoo, it is possible. I believe it, I just want to see it. Last year all over the world there were 100+lb ones landed and a few years ago this little guy was landed by a girl who is now known around the world for catching the largest Wahoo ever recorded? 184lbs

Having seen some big Wahoo first hand and put them on the scale to be sure, I think we will all be blown away to see this one if the pics ever come to light. If not... then its just another fish story and we'll just have to all keep trying to find our own monster!

The Atlantic Sailfish spectacular speed

It is very difficult to measure how fast a fish can swim, but researcher can only rely on rough estimates. However, the sailfish is absolutely fast. It's predatory behavior and its body structure shows its need for speed. example the bill is the cause of low resistance flow. It has been recorded spooling out 300 ft of a fisherman's line in three seconds. That would be faster than a sprinting cheetah, this speed would include its leaps out of water. Some researcher estimate 60 mph  or faster. It also has a strong backbone and a strong crescent-shaped tail to complete the sprinting swimmers shape.

Fun facts about the blue marlin

The blue marlin is my top most favorite fish to see in the Cayman Islands. Here is some fun facts about my favorite fish.
  • Speed
    • Blue Marlins are considered to be among the fastest fish in the ocean. They are incredibly fast swimmers and can reach up to 60 miles per hour!
  • Size
    • Females are 4 times larger than males. The largest specimens can reach 14 ft in length and weight almost 2000 pounds.
  • Feeding habits
    • When they hunt, they use their spear to inflict injuries when passing through a school of fish. Injured or dead fish will float in the water, and marlins will scoop the feast afterwards.
  •  Behavior
    • These type of marlin is a solitary specie, they are usually found swimming alone, although they might swim in pairs, but very rarely do they swim in larger schools.
  • Water temperature preferences
    • They prefer warm waters and migrate during winters moving from one site to another to avoid low water temperatures.
  • Life span
    • Females live an average of 27 years, while males live an average of 18 years in the wild.
  • Reproduction
    • Males reach sexual maturity at the age of 3, while females can only become sexually mature when they reach 265 pounds

This is why this is my favorite fish.

The boring school work we are forced to do.

Hope academy is getting boring year after year. In science out teach forces us to do the most boring thing ever.

Keenan Armstrong           4/6/2016                    Grade 10
Humans belong to the species Homo sapiens. Although humans are different from other animals, we still need things that come from nature, such as food and water Humans live in diverse environments, from deserts to tropical rain forests to mountains. People who are surrounded by many different kinds of species live in ecosystems with high biodiversity. Those ecosystems often have many natural resources, such as water, plants, and wildlife.

A footprint is the mark that your foot makes on the ground when you walk. People with small feet leave smaller footprints than people with big feet. When we use natural resources , we also leave footprint on the earth. This is called an ecological footprint. If you were to take long showers every day, drive everywhere you needed to go, and never recycle anything, your footprint would be larger than someone who takes short showers, rides a bike instead of driving, and recycles. People who have bigger impact on Earth’s ecosystems, which include both environments and species that live in these environments and species that live in those environments. Thinking about the way you use natural resources can help reduce your impact on the planet.

Really Mr. Cayle, whats the point of all this typing.

Sunday was the best! I woke up around 3:00 am due to a fool kicking me out of my own bed, and went to the couch. around 4:45 I load up the truck and went straight to my boat. With no hesitations we went straight east. Within 20 mins of trolling we got our first hook up with a barra. slowly going after catching 7 barras we got a hit on one rode and he got off but then. BAM the other rod went off screaming, so my dad got on the rod cranking. I got ready with the gaff and say the strips and immediately I got excited to saw my  first wahoo in the water. With my first try I gaffed him and he was on the deck.

My favorite lobster recipe

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
Add the oil to a large pot of boiling salted water, add the pasta and cook al dente according to the directions on the package. Drain well.
Heat the milk in a small saucepan, but don't allow it to boil. In a large pot, melt 6 tablespoons of the butter and add the flour. Cook over low heat for 2 minutes, stirring constantly with a whisk. Still whisking, add the hot milk and cook for 1 to 2 minutes, until thickened and smooth. Off the heat, add the Gruyere, Cheddar, 1 tablespoon salt, the pepper and nutmeg and stir until the cheese melts. Stir in the cooked pasta and lobster. Pile the mixture into 6 to 8 (2-cup) gratin dishes.
Melt the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter, combine with the bread crumbs and sprinkle on top. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, until the sauce is bubbly and the pasta is browned on top.

Top 5 reasons to buy the MasterCraft X10

The X10 Surf Wake is quickly making a name for itself as a premier surf boat. Surfing continues to grow in Michigan. When buying a boat that can produce a great surf wake i would conciser the X10. The Surf Videos of the X10 equipped with Surf Tabs show just how easy and how great the surf wake can be with only stock ballast and 3 people in the boat. See it for yourself in this X10 surf video.
Reason #4 Auto Launch
MasterCraft’s 2013 boats now come standard with the new Auto Launch feature. Boats equipped with a trim plate and/or surf tabs will automatically deploy the tabs when pulling a wakeboarder up out of the water and then retract once on plane at around 15 mph. This reduces fuel consumption and time to plane as well as reduces bow rise. We tested this feature out last fall at the Factory with the PWT XStar and love the added safety and quickness to plane that Auto Launch provides.

Reason #3 ZFT4 Tower

It seems like almost every boat in our service center has a tower these days. Until last year towers were very practical for on water use, but inconvenient when storing the boat in a garage or boat lift. While it was possible to fold a tower with 1 person, they usually required 2 people to efficiently and safely fold the tower down. The ZFT4 has made this struggle a thing of the past! With an assisted lift tower and two simple latches, the ZFT4 can be handled easily by your kids, while the optional upgraded ZFT5P raises and lowers with just the push of a button.

Reason #2 Flip Seat

The new MasterCraft flip seat is currently available in the X10, X30, XStar, and conveniently changes the seating configuration from kitchen style around the table seating, to entertainment style theater seating to watch all the action. We first tested out the new flip seat in the 2013 XStar last fall and had everyone in the boat comfortably facing the rider. Once you’re done you simply lift the seat back into the stored position like any other MasterCraft model you remember. True to MasterCraft’s standards, the flip seat is built with a Billet Aluminum frame to last and doesn’t compromise any storage space!

Reason #1 Size and Versatility

When our customer’s boats arrive for fall service, we usually can find a combination of skis, wakeboards, wakesurfers, tubes, and more. If you’re kids like to wakeboard but you still love carving glass on a slalom ski, you value a boat that can do it all. The X10 is the new ultimate crossover boat that offers something for everyone in a 21′ size that can handle almost any waterway.

My england Vacation

Image result for Natural History Museum logo londonSo for about two weeks I have been away from school. First I was in England, my first stop was London. While in London my first stop was the Natural History Museum. In the museum most of the items in there was about the prehistoric dinosaurs  then it led to the now a day animals. After about an hour of looking at animals and learning the history behind it, the gems were next. The gems were so beautiful  they had at least 200 gems from all over the world.
Image result for london zoo
Next was the london zoo it was a great experience but it was a little too cold for me, there was allsorts of animal in the zoo from each continent. But my favorite was the Penguin and the baby goats.

Image result for london aquarium logoThen we went to the aquarium, I did really like it because it was like a walk thru and you couldn't really stop and interact with certain aquatic animals. But at the say time I was thinking about some of the kids that were there. Everyday I get to go to the beach and scuba diving and see most of the fish. Then I could go on a boat to a place called stingray city and hold and feed stingrays, mean while some people in England can only see them threw a glass wall.

After three days in London we caught a train from London to Cambridge that was about an hour and fifteen minutes. Our trip was less exciting u we went to my step sister's graduation. For about 30 mins of that graduation I was out cold. It was so boring I couldn't keep my eyes open for one second. After all that torture we went to the hotel and I fell back to sleep and woke up to two loud mouth girl talking about where there taking my step sister.

Top 9 baoting apps

  1. Navionics Boating – GPS

Time and time again, when we speak to boaters and ask them what GPS app they’re using, Navionics Boating is the answer. Navionics is free to download and offers in-app purchases for charts and other upgrades, such as autorouting.
  1. NOAA SuperRes Radar HD

In order to enjoy the day safely on the water, a close eye must be kept on the weather. If you’re on iOS, in our experience the best radar app is NOAA’s SuperRes Radar. It has very hi-resolution and incredible accuracy. If you are on an Android device, RadarScope is just as good and accesses the same data. These apps are not only good for boating, but just great to have any time you want to see what kind of weather is rolling in.

  1. Windfinder

Ideal for sailors, kitesurfers, windsurfers and more, this app allows you to see the wind, waves and weather across the globe in real time.
  1. USA Tides

If you boat and/or fish in saltwater, having the latest marine tide information at your fingertips is invaluable.

  1. Animated Knots

Animated Knots by Grog is a broad teaching and reference tool for boaters and other hobbyists. With step-by-step instructions and, you guessed it, frame-by-frame animations, this app teaches you to tie knots at your own pace.

  1. FishingScout

A great resource and social app for anglers. The app allows you to upload photos of your latest catch, describe the conditions of how you caught it, study other locations where fish were caught, add friends, view their photos and more. Available for free on both iOS and Android.
  1. Dockwa

The Dockwa app allows boaters to view marinas in their location, select a destination and request a slip or mooring, all from their mobile device. Once the marina approves the reservation, payment is processed seamlessly through the app.
  1. Swell Advantage

Swell Advantage is a social boating app that lets you see where your family and friends are out on the water, including where they are headed and their speed. Custom notifications inform you when family and friends get on the water.

  1. Boatrax

Boatrax lets you keep detailed records of your boat while capturing and sharing your moments with family and friends. You can share your location and photos with friends and the boating community.

Top boating fails

1) Launching the Boat Without Putting in the Plug

This is probably the most common mistake people make. Usually, the excitement of putting in your boat trumps the thought of putting in your plug. Here’s a simple rule to follow: don’t assume the plug is in and always double check. If you’re trailering your boat, we recommend putting your plug in an obvious location (tie it to your steering wheel for example) when taking it out so you can’t miss it when the time comes to drop it back in

2) Overloading the Boat

`Every boat has a capacity limit that is dictated by either the amount of people or weight limit. This mistake can be easily avoided by knowing what the boats capacity is and managing the people on board.

3) Boating Under the Influence

There is something to be said about a boat ride while enjoying your favorite beverage. However, there is a difference between doing that and being irresponsible. Similar to a car, you can’t operate a boat while intoxicated. Michigan’s legal blood alcohol limit while driving the boat is .08 or above. If you’re above that, you run the risk of getting a BUI (Boating Under the Influence). Stay safe!

Image result for mahi mahi fishThis weekends was pretty fun. It all started on Friday at my friends Matts. We started by playing dominoes and chilling with a little back ground music till 4:00 am. the next day we loaded the boat again and went right out the channel following a bird. We slacked out two lines and the bird started diving. Instantly we had a fish on, got him in the boat and I tried to take him off the hook and it bit my hand. While I was fighting with the fish on the deck there was another one thrown on the deck. We putout more lined and hooked up on one last one and headed in.

This weekend was the greatest

This weekend was lit. About five o'clock in the morning I go up and loaded up the boat, and headed down the canal to go get a friend Dylan. Around 5:30 we were cutting across the north sound. as we got out the channel we slacked out two lines and started heading east. With in 30 min we had a hit, Dylan went to that rod and started fighting about 3 mins later it was a flippen barra. Later that day we were about 20 ft from a boat and bam! hooked up. We pulled up a little dolphin. Then we slacked out a squid and hooked up on a dolphin. About 20 mins we hooked up on two more dolphin then headed in.Displaying FullSizeRender.jpg
